Strength in Numbers on Austin City Limits in 1990
Two tunes From the second set of ACL program No.1509, Unfortunately, I got a late start to recording this session, completely missing the first tune and also missing part of the introduction to the second tune, "Slopes". Both of these and the last song, "Blue Men of the Sahara" have been graciously posted to RUclips by Mark O'Connor. My posting includes some hijinks by the boys before the last number that are not shown in Mark's postings. Also, I think you'll find that the picture quality is a little better. Personnel are identified at the end of the set.

Carol Sloane on the Tonight Show in 1966
Просмотров 855Год назад
Aired on NBC-TV on April 25, 1966. Audio recorded from WRC-TV. Video likely did not survive. NBC policy in the 1960's was to reuse the expensive 2-inch video tapes which were used to pre-record the Tonight Show program several hours before it aired. In the last half hour of the program, Carol sang the lyrics to the Ellington tune "In a Mellow Tone". She recorded a scat version on an LP..
Stan Kenton & his Orchestra - live at Sunnybrook Ballroom in 1962
Просмотров 295Год назад
Stan Kenton & his Orchestra are heard in a live remote broadcast from Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on October 20, 1962 over radio station WRCV, an AM radio station in Philadelphia. I recorded this on a Pentron reel-to-reel tape recorder, connected to the radio's earphone jack. I missed the very beginning of the program; and, WRCV's announcer, Bill Bransom, misidentifies the fi...

The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson - a complete program from early 1987

Guests were actor Charles Grodin, comedian Ronnie Shakes and singer/guitarist Leon Redbone and his group. I left in most of the commercials and promos to make it a kind of "time capsule". Two commercials were blocked by RUclips because of copyright claims on the music, so I edited them out. I recorded this program from a rebroadcast that aired in early 1988 on WNBC-TV, Channel Four, in New York...
Candy Candido's tribute at a 50-year wedding anniversary celebration on April 23, 1988

Candy Candido, who is best known for his ability to speak in a super basso-profundo range, served as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Great Allentown Fair, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, for more than 30 years. He also became good friends with my father, Ed Charles, who was a long-time official with the Fair. He also got to know many in our family. He recorded this presentation (a friendly roast, as...

In 2016, I up-loaded this performance, which was taken from my collection of off-the-air VHS recordings. I only recently found out that there was a picture freeze and audio dropout in Paul Yandell's solo during the performance of "Dance With Me", which must have occurred when I made the tape-to-digital transfer. The VHS cassette is long gone; but, I was able to find an upload of just that tune ...

Alan Toussaint on Austin City Limits (2010)
I'm throwing it way back this #ThrowbackThursday to 1990, when Strength in Numbers performed on Austin City Limits. It was such a great season, too, since it was the show’s 15th anniversary! That same year, B.B. King got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Simpsons debuted as a half-hour show on Fox, and we lost Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jim Henson.👍
Thanks for editing and taking the commercials out, really good.
I have a new appreciation for Leo Durocher, honestly. He seems incredibly respected by the majority of those he managed and had his finger on the pulse of the people he mentored. I love great storytellers with their own flair and style, and he had that in aces, too. I never really watched many interviews with Mickey because as a Milwaukee fan growing up and to this day, the big clubs always get the attention. But now I feel like I cheated myself out of knowing how modest and sharing of a player he was, which was indicative of his constantly trying to put light on Hank. I loved the ump being included in this talk, too. The stories they must have are priceless.
Great!!
Big orange on his lip lmao?? 😂 i dont get it
if only someone knew how to host a talk show- if only there was anyone interesting enough to be a guest- we are missing the great entertainers of another era :(
Wonderful music , wonderful people , Jerry for ever in my heart, thank you very much for sharing . I love it , what a beautiful performance. Loving greetings😍😍❤❤
This is being played at hyper-speed. Good thing there was no cocaine around in the 80's that could make something like this happen!
He’s like an A Plus student….all class.
Before blue hair, a man was a man
Those days are gone. But I like to keep alive and well ❤
Wow
I am sure this has been said before, but there are a lot of comments. The bass player is absolutely smashing it.
Try and find a movie called, “Soldier in The Rain,” with Steve McQueen. Jackie Gleason was spectacular.
Smoked 4 packs a day.
Every time I hear melancholy serenade I get a lump in my throat.
He would be gone within 2 years. Very sad.
Pickin' and a grinnin'..RIP Jerry

Big big bonus that they are still together and singing
What is the full line up? Bill, Kenny,? ? ?
That black trans am and that KW and stagecoach trailer. Anybody who would paint his trailer like this would go to a ministers funeral dressed in feathers!!!!
❤
❤
When I was a kid I always liked him, the characters he played. Of course you have the supporting people that are almost equal to the lead.

Just watching movie. 42. See his wife still alive 102.
It would've been awesome if he said "Hell, I got to go!" at the end 😂
When she was at her peak! Her voice still had that pure, sweet tone with none of the brassineess that has creeps into female singers’ voices as they continue to ply their trade.
That 1975 World Series was one of the best ever. I'm a Cincy guy but the Red Sox were also a great team. Could have gone either way And right on to Carlton with his sentiments about Sander's attitude.
What a gem. So glad I found this.

To me, Mr. Robinson is one of our great Americans that this country has ever produced.
He played at a private cow sale where I’m from in Texas around the time this was filmed. He personally visited with everyone at the sale before he performed. He was a funny charming man. There was only one Jerry Reed.
Born in 1884, that's crazy to think all the changes he saw.
In 1982, “Austin City Limits” nominated and won their ACM and CMA Awards, and it's still the highest-rated live music show on PBS. Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band were some of the performers on the show that season, along with Rodney Crowell and the Cherry Bombs, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins with special guest Jethro Burns, Johnny Lee and the Urban Cowboy Band, Charly McClain, Willie Nelson, and many more. Season 7 of Austin City Limits featured the following performers: Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band, Rodney Crowell and the Cherry Bombs, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins with special guest Jethro Burns, Johnny Lee and the Urban Cowboy Band, Charly McClain, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Merle Haggard with Leona Williams and the Strangers, The Bellamy Brothers with Diamondback, John Anderson, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Ricky Skaggs, Tompall and the Glaser Brothers, George Strait, Don McLean, Terri Gibbs, Roy Clark, The Geezinslaws, Pete Fountain with Johnny Gimble, Jazzmanian Devil, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and David Olney and the X-Rays.👍
That's some difficult guitar parts !
best country song ever
